Welcome
Helpful Social Work podcast was set up in 2016. In 2024, after 8 series, the platform was handed over to the ARM-OUR podcast.
Welcome to ARM-OUR: a podcast from the Anti-Racist Movement (A.R.M). A platform where courage meets compassion, and connection flourishes within our community. Join us on a journey of fearless self-discovery and collective resistance as we disrupt racial and intersectional narratives in and across the breadth of social work. Led by our vision to make a meaningful difference in Black lives, we embrace joy and unapologetically nurture each other. Through authentic storytelling, we honour the paths to self-determination, knowing that ‘the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house’. Tune in as we explore the power of healing, growth, and solidarity, guided by the wisdom of pioneers like bell hooks and Audre Lorde to name but a few. This is OUR-ARM – Our sacred space: where we do not apologise, we act.
You might be wondering; how often can you expect new episodes? Well, we’re committed to publishing on a monthly basis, so you can tune in frequently for fresh content and engaging conversations. So, what do we hope to achieve with this podcast? Our goals are ambitious yet essential. We aim to address current issues affecting Black women, host inspiring guests, and create a space where we can freely express our thoughts and share ideas. Together, we’ll navigate the complexities of our world and work towards a future of empowerment and equality. Thank you for joining us on this journey. Let’s dive in!
